Accounting Principals is seeking a Staff Accountant for our financial services client located on the north side of Indianapolis. The Staff Accountant assumes a shared responsibility and accountability for developing and maintaining accurate and detailed accounting records and responsible for preparing financial statements and reports. Interested candidate should have a Bachelors degree in addition to previous financial services or banking experience.

Summary of essential job functions:

  • Complete monthly reconciliations including general ledger balance sheet and various income statement accounts
  • Prepare monthly investment transactions; assist with annual budgeting process; maintain fixed-asset records.
  • Assist with preparation of reports provided to board and asset/liability management committee; assist internal and external auditors and regulators as necessary.
  • Assist with accounts-payable process including payment of invoices and ensuring items post to correct general ledger accounts; assist with employee reimbursement processing.
  • Maintain vendor information and records; research outstanding accounts payable invoices and discrepancies.
  • Provide information to management related to expense control.
  • Originates and processes all incoming and outgoing wire transfers.
  • Assists in reconciling daily wire activity.
  • Handles customer wire requests, inquires and complaints.
  • Monitors incoming, outgoing and internal funds transfers for the financial institution.
  • Other job duties as assigned or requested by Management.
  • Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
  • Banking or mortgage banking experience preferred
  • 4+ years prior accounting experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite with advanced knowledge of Excel required.
