Accounting Principals is looking to fill a Staff Accountant job opportunity for this company located in Napa, CA. The right candidate should have at least 5 years of experience as a Staff Accountant and be extremely comfortable with the General Ledger, Cost Accounting, and Inventory. The candidate will report to the Controller and be very involved in all the annual close processes, preparing financial reports, reconciliation, accounts payable, and inventory cost accounting, and other projects as assigned.   



- General ledger activities ensuring journal entries are prepared and posted and the preparation of balance sheet account reconciliations

- Perform costing monthly, assist with the physical inventory, and analyze variance and cost fluctuations

- Manage the accounts payable approval and coding, ensure expense reports are processed (Concur), and prepare annual reporting of 1099 forms

- Process all bank activity related to ACH and wire payments

- Preparation of various financial reports

- Assist with the audit

- Assist Controller on projects as assigned



- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required

- Experience within the wine industry would be preferred

- Solid knowledge of accounting and knowing your general accounting debits and credits (GAAP)

- Software experience with Microsoft Navision preferred

- A team player, able to work independently, flexible , and take initiative

- Attention to detail, problem-solver, and driven to meet deadlines

- Strong communications (written & verbal)  

- Comfortable with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word & Outlook)


Experience: 5 years of Accounting experience (Staff Accountant, GL Accountant, Inventory Accountant)

Compensation: $65,000 – $75,000
