Accounting Principals is looking to fill a Staff Accountant job opportunity for this East Bay company located in Alameda, CA. This position is 100% in-office! The right candidate should have at least 4 years of experience as a Staff Accountant. The candidate will report to the Controller, work on the general ledger, month, quarter, and year-end close, financial reporting, reconciliations, analysis, and assist on projects as assigned. 


Responsibilities include:

- Work heavily on the General Ledger and the annual financial closings

- Prepare journal entries, reconcile, and analyze balance sheet accounts

- Perform account analysis and analyze account balance variances

- Prepare audit schedules for quarterly and year-end audit

- Prepare annual budgets

- Assist Controller on projects as assigned


Qualifications for the job include:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required

- Solid knowledge of accounting and knowing your general accounting debits and credits (GAAP)

- Software experience with Lawson or AS400 preferred

- Able to work independently, take initiative, and be self-motivated

- Attention to detail, problem-solver, analytical, multi-tasker, and strong time management skills

- Strong communications (written & verbal)  

- Comfortable with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word & Outlook)


Experience: 4 years of General Ledger experience (Staff Accountant, GL Accountant)

Compensation: $70,000 – $80,000
