Accounting Principals is working with a Non-Profit Agency located in downtown Austin on an immediate Staff Accountant role. To be considered for this role you must have accounting experience working with a non-profit specifically handling grant accounting. In this role you will be able to work from home, but must be able to go into the office if needed. If you are a forward thinker and prefer to work in an collaborative team then apply now. The role will pay $55-60k based on experience. 


  • Develops, documents, and monitors departmental procedures to ensure that Generally Accepted Accounting Principles are upheld.
  • Establishes and maintains accounting records and systems by preparing journal entries, preparing balances, adjusts budgets, analyzing discrepancies and initiating corrective action.
  • Interprets, prepares, verifies, and analyzes financial reports and statements to summarize financial status and recommend financial actions.
  • Prepares and reviews all grant/contract funded programs.
  • Accepts and balance payments from tribal courts, housing, and utilities.
  • Distributes monthly reports of expenditures to departments.
  • Prepares and analyzes quarterly financial and general ledger reports for review.
  • Prepares accurate profit and loss statements for specified accounting period; audits contracts, purchase orders and vouchers; prepares reports to substantiate transactions; monitors contracts to ensure compliance with contracting agreements.
  • Assists in annual audit.
  • Maintains budgets; composes budget modifications; advises on budgetary status for encumbrances and expenditures.
  • Contributes to a team effort and accomplishes related results as required.
  • Reviews incoming requisitions and processes disbursements and purchase orders.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


  • Must have non-profit accounting experience
  • MIP Software experience preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, Vlookups, Macros, etc.)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
