Accounting Principals is partnering with a Real Estate Development company to identify an individual for a contract to hire Staff Accountant role in Carlsbad, CA. To qualify for this role, you must have a minimum of two years of accounting experience, and strong Excel skills in the construction or real estate development industry. The Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining accounting records, participating in monthly close and assisting with the system conversion.
Staff Accountant Responsibilities:
Prepare account reconciliations and journal entries as needed to support the month-end close activities.
Review all check requests for proper approvals, supporting documentation
Responsibilities include sales tax, business tax and licensing.
Preparation of bank and credit card reconciliations.
Support of the development department including job cost accounting, loan documentation and bank submittals.
Ensure compliance with department policies and procedures.
Assist with problem solving and provide recommendations on process improvements.
Assist with system conversion
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s in Accounting or related field required
Minimum of two years of accounting experience
Strong Microsoft Excel skills (including pivot tables and v-look ups experience)
Experience in the Construction or Real Estate Development industry preferred
Previous experience with Sage CRE (Timberline) or Great Plains preferred
