Responsibilities for the Staff Accountant:
• Reconciliation of various accounts including discrepancies and past due amounts listed on statements
• Prepare accounts payable invoices for processing and ensures invoices are properly coded to the appropriate expense or balance sheet account
• Determine and manage weekly vendor payments; generate checks, wire transfers, and ACH payments
• Prepare and submit state sales and use tax on a quarterly basis
• Compile and organize 1099 information to satisfy filing requirements
• Manage, record, and reconcile fixed asset records
• Month-end expense accruals and other journal entries
• Reconcile accounts payable and goods received to the general ledger
• Other month-end duties as needed
• Assist in financial and bank audits
• Cash Forecasting
• Accounts Receivable
• Other duties as assigned by Controller
Skills and Qualifications for the Staff Accountant:
• Bachelor's degree in accounting or a closely related field required
• 3+ years accounting experience including month end close and journal entry preparation
• Knowledge of financial accounting principles including GAAP
• Full knowledge of double entry accounting and adjusting entries is required
• Intermediate Excel skills including filtering and simple formulas
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills, strong problem solving skills
