Position Summary: Requirements include a thorough working knowledge of and ability to analyze credit reports, income documentation, assets, liabilities, property appraisals, and title reports, to ensure loans meet company standards for sale into secondary market. Person will identify and analyze borrower and property related risks to arrive at a loan decision of approval, suspense, or denial.
Complete a thorough analysis of loan files to determine compliance with company, investor, and government guidelines and standards.
Evaluate the entire credit package and collateral for residential mortgage loans and ultimately ensure an “investor’ quality loan product
Enter loan data completely and correctly into the loan operating system ensuring all required disclosures and documentation generated are accurate and complete.
Calculate income & debts in accordance with Dodd-Frank Appendix Q or investor requirements.
Analyze and calculate income based on documentation provided. Income types include, but are not limited to, self-employed, rental, salaried, bonus, overtime, commission, social security, pension, IRA.
Strong knowledge of complex federal tax returns and self-employed income analysis based on FNMA 1084 form.
Review all types of asset statements for complete and accurate data, and adherence to investor and company guidelines.
Review, understand, and analyze file documentation including Flood Certificates, credit reports, hazard insurance policies, purchase contract, and preliminary title reports.
Review and thoroughly analyze appraisal reports including Single Family Residence, Multi family residence, Condominiums, and PUDS. Identify Red Flags/Fraud Detection.
Communicate decision (approval, suspense, denial) on loans to appropriate parties in writing.
Condition for documentation required, review and clear all conditions.
Maintain current knowledge of loan products and guidelines.
Work in a paperless environment.
Answer guideline questions on the Underwriting Hotline on assigned day.
Provide exceptional customer service and timely responses in support of internal and external customers.
Strict adherence to all state and federal regulations and company policies and procedures as stated in the loan policy manual, including confidentiality and security.
Assume additional responsibilities as required or requested by management.
Knowledge, Skills, Requirements:
3 years or more experience underwriting Conventional, FHA, VA, and USDA loans.
DE/CHUMS required. SAR/LAPP is preferred.
Able to follow instructions, policies, procedures, and confidential protocol.
Adhere and comply with all applicable Federal and State regulations, as well as company policies and procedures.
General banking knowledge.
Well-developed verbal and written communication skills.
Solid computer skills including Outlook, Microsoft Word, and Excel applications.
Attention to detail, ability to meet deadlines.
Ability to work independently, and closely and harmoniously with others in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to work an 8 hour day (8am to 5pm, 8:30am to 5:30pm, 9am to 6pm) (One hour lunch & two 10 minute breaks)
Ability to work efficiently from home, if needed.
