Property Accountant

Accounting Principals is looking to fill a Property Accountant job opportunity for this East Bay company located in Alameda, CA. This position is 100% in-office! The right candidate should have at least 5 years of experience as a Staff Accountant and at least 2 years in a Property /Real Estate Accountant position. The candidate will report to the Controller and be responsible for recognizing and analyzing occupancy related accounts including Common Area Maintenance (CAM), Real Estate Taxes , Personal Property Tax and Straight-Line Rent.   

Responsibilities:

- Responsible for accounting and reconciliations of all capital and operating leases

- Perform operating versus capital lease analysis

- Analyze actual to budget variance for all areas of occupancy

- Budget occupancy expense for all locations

- Prepare journal entries, analyze, and reconcile accounts surrounding occupancy accounting

- Fixed Asset Accounting

- Assist with the month-end close

- Assist Controller on projects as assigned

Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required

- Solid knowledge of accounting and knowing your general accounting debits and credits (GAAP)

- Software experience with Lawson preferred

- Able to work independently, take initiative, and be self-motivated

- Attention to detail, problem-solver, analytical, multi-tasker, and strong time management skills

- Strong communications (written & verbal)  

- Comfortable with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word & Outlook)

Experience: 5 years of Accounting experience (Property Accountant, Real estate Accountant, Staff Accountant, GL Accountant)

Compensation: $70,000 – $80,000
