Accounting Principals is looking to fill a Payroll Specialist job opportunity for this well-established East Bay company located in Downtown Oakland, CA. The right candidate should have at least 3 years of experience in Payroll. The candidate will report to the Controller and manage the payroll process for the company. 


Responsibilities include:

- Manage the payroll operations for 300 plus employee’s both hourly and salary

- Multi-state payroll experience

- Calculate and prepare manual payroll checks including unused PTO cashout for terminating employee’s and urgent requests

- Print various reports and transfer funds related to weekly payroll direct deposits

- Track and maintain sick and vacation time

- Reconcile payroll related accounts

- Calculate Federal and State Taxes and print yearly and quarterly reports for State and Federal tax

- Assist HR with benefits enrollment and processing

- Resolve any payroll related issues with the staff

- Assist controller on any related projects as assigned


Qualifications for the job include:

- Strong understanding of employment legislation - wage, hour and payroll tax laws

- Solid knowledge of accounting knowing your general accounting debits and credits  

- Software experience with ADP Workforce Now is preferred

- Outstanding communications skills, both written and verbal

- Attention to detail, analytical, and organized

- A can-do attitude, confidential, and great customer service skills

- Comfortable with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word & Outlook)


Experience: 3 years of Payroll experience

Compensation: $65,000 – $75,000
