Accounting Principals has partnered with a Dallas, TX client to find a Payroll/ Garnishment Specialist for a full-time position paying up to $55,000. The Payroll/Garnishment Specialist is primarily responsible for the coordination of all tasks related to payroll processing including review and balancing of weekly time files, maintaining employee data including direct deposit accounts, miscellaneous payroll deductions, tax withholding, and garnishments. The Payroll/Garnishment Administrator will also distribute checks for missing and termination pay and will be the first point of contact for managers and employees for all matters related to payroll.

Responsibilities: 

  • Compiles and processes payroll data such as timesheets, additional pay requests, garnishments, direct deposit, and tax withholding changes in order to ensure accurate payment to employees.
  • Reviews and balances weekly time files and computes and corrects errors to ensure the accuracy of wages computed.
  • Records data concerning transfer of employees between departments and locations.
  • Prepares periodic reports of earnings, taxes, and deductions.
  • Process terminations in accordance with state regulations; Prepares and issues payments for missing and termination pay.
  • Provides support to employees and operation field managers by researching and resolving payroll-related questions and issues.
  • Receives garnishment orders and transmits to 3rd party vendor for review, processing, and payment disbursement; Researches and provides follow-up of unresolved issues to vendor.
  • Interact with various departments within and outside the company to answer garnishment related questions and resolve issues (external contacts include check collection agencies, courts, lawyers)
  • Ensures reconciliation of weekly garnishment interface files, weekly wire transfers, and processing of garnishment refunds; Resolves interface errors
