Payroll Manager

Our Construction-based client is currently pursuing a tenured Payroll Manager with 5+ or more years of progressive experience as a human resource/payroll professional for their role in Downtown Houston, TX office. This is a key opportunity to work with a purpose-driven and passionate Human Resources team to retire from. This role encompasses many payroll processing responsibilities.

 

Our ideal candidate has the capability to process 3 IN-HOUSE payrolls, timesheets, and related party billing. They will ultimately be  responsible for running sage reports on payroll items and adjusting rates on 401K's. Responsibilities:

  • Manage weekly and bi-weekly payroll process; including working with a team entering and reconciling timesheets
  • Quarterly and Annual filings and related tax payments
  • Oversee all the federal and state filing
  • They have under 200, 120 for another company, last company has 20 employees-- 2 of the companies have unions
  • Somebody who is very organized and can look through the handbook – add items that are missing
  • SAGE 300 – post entries, reconciling accounts that are related to payroll
  • Run sage reports on payroll items, 401k adjusting rates – the unions will come out with rate changes
  • Payroll is most important union certified payroll focused; timesheets are different across companies
  • Update and Monitor all deductions; including FSA, insurance and other
  • Oversee Employee Receivables/Employee Notes
  • Employee handbooks
  • VOE’s and New hire / termination paperwork
  • 401k uploads and processing deferral and loan changes and annual census reporting
  • EEOC reports
  • Monthly Union reports and related payments
  • Wage rate set up and monitoring within the accounting software
  • Oversee annual workers compensation audit
  • Maintains payroll guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures
  • Work with accounting team to ensure payroll related balances are correct
  • Committed to work within a team environment to accomplish department goals

    Required Qualifications:

  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP), preferred
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related experience, required
  • 5+ years – progressive experience as a payroll professional, preferably in the Construction Industry
  • 3+ years -- Labor and Employee Relations experience
  • PHR/SPHR certification, preferred
  • Discretion working with sensitive information
  • Union experience required
  • Aatrix software experience a plus
  • 20-30% HR, 70-80% Payroll

    Work Hours: M- F flex | 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM,  8:00 AM - 5:00 PM, or 8:30 AM - 5:30 PM CST |
