Accounting Principals is currently working on a remote, work from home opportunity. This is a Payroll Manager role that will later on transition into working from their New York City office located in midtown Manhattan. If you are looking for a position that offers flexibility then apply today!

Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining payroll information by designing systems; directing the collection, calculation, and entering of data.
  • Updating payroll records by reviewing and approving changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and job titles, and department/ division transfers.
  • Paying employees by directing the production and issuance of paychecks or electronic transfers to bank accounts.
  • Preparing reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages.
  • Determining payroll liabilities by approving the calculation of employee federal and state income and social security taxes, and employer's social security, unemployment, and workers compensation payments.
  • Balancing the payroll accounts by resolving payroll discrepancies.
  • Providing payroll information by answering questions and requests.
  • Maintaining payroll guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures.
  • Complying with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
  • Maintaining employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Completing operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results.
  • Maintaining  payroll staff by recruiting, selecting, orienting, and training employees.
  • Skills:

  • Extensive knowledge of the payroll functions including preparation, balancing, internal control, and payroll taxes. 
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills
