Accounting Principals is seeking a full charge Bookkeeper for a temp-to-hire position in Chicago. The Bookkeeper will be responsible for various accounting and payroll-related tasks, including preparing monthly reports. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 3 years of bookkeeping experience using Sage Intacct. 

Bookkeeper Responsibilities: 

  • Responsible for daily and ongoing management of all finance and accounting matters
  • Maintain accurate records of financial transactions by posting transactions and ensuring compliance with GAAP
  • Manage vendors and invoice processing
  • Perform activities related to A/P, A/R, payroll, and expense reports
  • Assist in the month-end close process to produce error-free, timely financial statements
  • Prepare and enter monthly journals and accrual entries
  • Reconcile all bank accounts and general ledger accounts on a timely basis
  • Calculate and analyze variances from budget
  • Perform monthly sales tax reconciliation and process return approval through Avalara
  • Assist in the development of annual budgets, strategic plans, and other financial forecasts
  • Prepare necessary documentation and data for required tax filings and licensing
  • Assist in preparing work papers and documents for external audits
  • Other duties as required
  • Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in accounting or business/finance and/or a minimum of three to four years of work experience as a bookkeeper or as an accounting/finance professional
  • Knowledge of GAAP and accounting concepts
  • Excellent data entry skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proficient in analyzing financial information and clearly communicating results
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Ability to learn new software and platforms quickly
  • Respect confidential nature of certain administrative functions by maintaining appropriate discretion
  • Appropriately manage time and schedule to ensure deadlines are met and projects are completed
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work seamlessly across all departments
  • Experience with Sage Intacct, Expensify, Bill.com, Avalara a plus
