Accounting Principals is partnering with a leading non-profit to recruit a Finance Specialist for a permanent opportunity based in San Francisco, CA.

The Finance Specialist is responsible for supporting all financial and legal compliance along with risk assessment. The Finance Specialist also supports budgeting, internal controls, audits, and reports with guidance from the Finance Director.  The Finance specialist reports to the Finance Director.

YOUR DUTIES WILL INCLUDE

  • Implementing financial accounting policies, processes, and internal controls to increase efficiency and effectiveness, as well as protect organizational assets.
  • Manage financial budgeting and forecasting processes to ensure alignment with organizational strategies and priorities.
  • Under supervision of the Finance Director, recommend approval of annual financial plan to Executive Director and Board of Directors.
  • Generate regular financial statements and analysis for Executive Director and Board of Directors
  • Provide detailed financial information to the Development team for grant reporting.
  • Ensure compliance, manage, and as needed improve accounting processes (e.g., accounts receivable/payable, monthly reports by program, and develop other financial and accounting policies and procedures as needed).
  • Responsible for all general ledger entries including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll.
  • Direct annual external audit, including 990 and other filing requirements.

    QUALIFICATIONS

  • Understanding of nonprofit financial management and governance.
  • Experience in managing and reporting on government contracts and grants.
  • Expertise in financial analysis and activity accounting, budget development and reporting, project and grant management and internal controls required.
  • Advanced Excel skills and high proficiency in Quickbooks.
  • Strong organizational skills, communication skills, analytical skills, and attention to detail.
  • B.A. or B.S. Degree in Accounting, Business, or related field. Master’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field a STRONG plus.
  • The Finance Specialist is a full-time position with opportunities for advancement.

  • Salary: Depends on experience
