Accounting Principals is looking for an sharp individual for a Grants Accountant/Analyst position in Chicago, IL. Our client is in the nonprofit industry and is looking to add to their team! They have been recognized for their supportive work culture and environment. To qualify, you must have a Bachelor's in Accounting and strong Excel skills.

Location: Chicago, IL 60602

Hybrid (Training in-office, then converts to 1-day in office and 4 days remote)

 

Job Description:

  • Reviews grant & contract documents for financial reporting guidelines and budget compliance.
  • Analyzes grant & contract related transactions recorded in the MIP accounting system.
  • Reviews, edits, and transmits grant & contract related financial and expenditure reports and bills other government agencies/sponsors/grantors accordingly.
  • Assists with the preparation of Annual Financial Report.
  • Prepares various schedules and filings with local, state, and federal agencies.
  • Preparation of invoice/billings and collection of funds for the support of restricted grant & contract expenditures.
  • Monitors and reviews federal and state regulations that stipulate specifications for required policies and procedures related to financial reporting for grant funds.
  • Prepares ad hoc reports requested by management and other agencies.
  • Assist in formulating procedures and operating policies to assure continuing compliance with grant & contract related accounting and financial reporting.
  • Audits, reconciles, and processes transactions related to receipt and expenditures of grant & contract funds.
  • Coordinates with other departments to ensure compliance
  • Computes indirect cost rates and apply such rates as necessary to awards.
  • Assists programmatic staff and grantees with grant & contract related financial questions.
  • Review expenditures to ensure compliance with company, Federal and State rules and regulations.
  • Maintenance of accounting records in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and policies.
  • Review business practices for improvements in efficiency.
  • Maintains accounting records utilizing the accounting system.
  • Prepares journal entries to accurately report receipt and expenditure of grant & contract revenue.
  • Actively participates in the collection and compilation of information in the annual financial report.

    Qualifications:

  • Degree – Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (REQUIRED)  
  • Experience – 0-5 years of experience
  • Software – MS Excel (Pivot Tables/VLOOKUP)
