Accounting Principals has partnered with a Hackensack, New Jersey based company in their search to hire a Collections Specialist.  This is a permanent position that will offer between $44-48K per year, along with competitive benefits.


Responsible for collection and credit risk management, while maintaining customer satisfaction. Supports the Sr. Credit Manager and Credit Manager in monitoring credit lines and releasing orders.




  • Contacts customers to ensure timely payments are received to maintain Company’s DSO
  • Researches and resolves payment discrepancies/cash and credits on customers account
  • Reports to Credit Management all problem receivables in a timely manner
  • Works with Sales and Customer Service team on resolution of disputes with customers
  • Maintains logs regarding customer set ups
  • Prepares monthly department reports
  • Establishes new accounts within SAP based on New Account Packet forwarded from Seller or Customer Service Representative.
  • Process credit card payments
  • Runs aging report to identify past due accounts
  • Recommends Payment Plan-Prepare Final Demand Letters for submission to Collections/Legal
  • Back up for all cash application and other tasks necessary to support Accounts Receivable area
  • Provides support on special projects when necessary
  • Risk Management:

  • Prepares a payment analysis to be included in customer’s overall review
  • Maintains customer profiles as a result of customer collection calls
  • Responds to credit inquiry requests
  • Prepares 3rd Party Exposure Report
  • Runs D&B’s and other report as required, trade and bank references as well
  • Maintains in SAP the e-mail addresses of customers for statements and invoices
  • Accountable for reducing delinquency for assigned accounts

  • College Degree Required with a major or minor in Finance/Accounting
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook
  • SAP experience a plus
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Excellent attention to details

  • Must have some working knowledge of a financial statement
  • Must have very good communications skills (written and oral)
  • Must have good Excel Skills
  • Must have good problem-solving skills
