Accounts Payable Clerk

Accounting Principals is currently seeking an Accounts Payable Clerk for a six-month contract in Chicago. This person would be responsible for timely and accurate posting of all payments, receivables and fixed asset transactions.  


  • Work with different departments to ensure purchase orders are created accurately and timely
  • Perform postings and clearing functionality in system
  • Prepare daily bank deposits
  • Access and interpret the Vendor Account and contract functions
  • Maintain vendor files and process vendor account setup
  • Investigate posting problems and differences and report back to supervisor/manager as necessary
  • Perform other duties to support the finance team
  • Reconcile shortages/allowances and chargebacks
  • Perform other miscellaneous duties as assigned by Supervisor


  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office is highly preferred
  • 1 or more years of accounting experience
  • General understanding of the accounts payable process
  • College degree preferred


  • Strong attention to detail and highly organized
  • Comfortable working in an open office environment
  • Self-starter with ability to work on a team
  • Strong desire to expand knowledge in field
