Accounting Principals is seeking an Accounting & Payroll Assistant for our client located in central Indianapolis. This is a contract to hire opportunity with split duties of both accounting and payroll functions. The ideal candidate should have at least 1+ years of both accounting and payroll experience. Compensation for this position is $18/HR.

Job Duties:

  • Serve as a back-up and assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
  • Verifying, allocating, and posting transactions.
  • Maintains historical records by filing documents.
  • Prepares financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends.
  • Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements
  • Performs payroll processing, tax reporting, and other payroll duties. 
  • Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum one year payroll and accounting experience in a similar size organization/company and/or equivalent combination of education/training/experience in payroll, accounting or finance.
  • Solid understanding of financial functions, federal and state wage and hour laws and regulations including those applicable to payroll, taxes, withholding, deductions and garnishments.
  • Requires technical proficiencies in use of databases and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
