We have partnered with a Dallas TX client to find an Accounting Manager for a consulting opportunity. This role will oversee the general accounting team which is responsible for the monthly close process, corporate consolidation, and the complete and accurate accounting of wage and benefit expense, advertising, utilities, insurance, beverage rebates, franchise revenue and general and administrative costs.  Responsible for the supervision, leadership, and development of two general accounting team members.

The Job:

  • Manage the month-end financial close process for approximately 140 company-owned restaurants as well as all general and administrative costs.
  • Review and approve all transactions recorded by the accounting staff to ensure entries are appropriate and in accordance with GAAP.
  • Review monthly P&Ls and provide meaningful variance explanations of actual results vs. budget and prior month.
  • Manage the process to recognize and report monthly franchise revenues and royalties paid related to 30 franchised/licensed locations.
  • Review and approve monthly balance sheet reconciliations prepared by staff and ensure any reconciling items are cleared on a timely basis.
  • Ensure that all controls are functionally effectively.  Work with internal audit to ensure proper documentation is maintained to support SOX assessment.
  • Work with external auditors in the preparation of quarterly and year-end audit schedules.
  • Work closely with corporate and brand teams, balancing excellent customer service with an efficient process.
  • Work to improve existing processes to become more streamlined.
  • Manage and motivate your team, with a focus on timely coaching and feedback on individual performance
  • Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • 6-8 years GAAP accounting experience
  • CPA preferred
  • 2-3 years experience supervising employees preferred
  • Experience with Workday preferred
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills a plus
  • Self-directed, highly organized and able to meet strict deadlines
  • Detail-oriented, yet able to effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Flexibility to work overtime, especially during high peak periods such as month-end close
  • Strong customer service ethic – must understand and agree that our job is to make the other employees’ lives easier so that they can do a better job serving our customers!
