Accounting Manager (Temp to Perm)

 

Are you a CPA with both leadership and hands on experience? Are you looking for a leadership role in Accounting that is both individual and team focused? If so, this Accounting Manager job might be the perfect fit. The Manager of Accounting is responsible for maintaining the general ledger, leading the monthly close process and assisting in the financial statement preparation.  This role is responsible for applying generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements and maintaining internal controls over financial reporting.

 

This opportunity is temp to hire and will pay up to $95K for the right candidates.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

General Accounting and Month End Closing

  • Oversee the daily functions of the general ledger and maintaining the chart of accounts
  • Ensure an accurate and timely monthly close process, including journal entry preparation and / or review
  • Prepare and / or review account reconciliations, accruals and roll forwards of general ledger accounts in a timely manner
  • Perform continuous assessment of the close process and reengineer the process to reduce the timing to close the financial period
  • Financial Reporting and Analysis
  • Assist in the timely and accurate preparation of the monthly management reporting package including divisional P&Ls and business unit reporting
  • Evaluate financial results and proactively research and explain variances, while assessing the accuracy and completeness of the monthly financial reporting package.
  • Assist in the preparation of the annual financial statements ensuring compliance with US GAAP
  • Audit, Internal Controls and Compliance

  • Assist and direct the team in supporting the annual external audit and other compliance activities as needed
  • Maintain proper documentation and procedures to ensure an effective internal control environment
  • Monitor and ensure timely identification and compliance with evolving GAAP guidance, evaluate the impact to the Company’s financial presentation
  • Update and maintain written accounting policies and procedures to improve clarity and drive consistency
  • Business Initiatives and Special Projects

  • Assist with new business initiatives, with respect to reviewing updating and monitoring the Company’s processes, policies and controls
  • Assist in integration of new acquired entities from an accounting perspective
  • Support and interface with Financial Planning & Analysis team as part of the budgetary and forecasting processes
  • Personnel Management and Other

  • Supervise, develop and mentor staff to aid in professional development
  • Responsible for driving department goals and vision forward with the team
  • Perform ad-hoc analysis and other duties as assigned
  • Manage, lead, and provide direction to a team
  • Provide coaching and training to ensure the highest levels of individual and team performance
  • Create a workplace culture that is consistent with the overall organization's vision, purpose, and values
  • Ensure consistent adherence to all department and company policies, procedures, and practices
  • Provide effective performance feedback through employee recognition and disciplinary action, with the assistance of Human Resources, when necessary
  • Demonstrate financial stewardship by managing current resources with high efficiency, thoughtfully applying budget principles within the team, and acting with integrity and accountability in financial decisions
  • Lead change, understand the why behind change efforts, communicate transparently, and ensure that you and your team are “ready, willing, and able to help with implementation”
  • Look for ways to improve how daily work is done to improve efficiencies, automation, and simplify our processes and procedures
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned
  •  

    QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree in business or operations discipline +7 year of experience or corresponding work experience
  • CPA Required
  • Experience in Public Accounting is a plus
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office, including Word, Outlook, and Excel required (advanced Excel preferred)
  • Knowledge of ERP accounting software
  • Attention to detail
  • Strong organization and time management skills
  • Ability to adapt to a changing environment
  • Demonstrated excellent customer service skills along with a high level of interpersonal skills with demonstrated poise, tact, and diplomacy; must be able to maintain the integrity of confidential information
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to clearly communicate issues to all levels of management
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with clients and excellent persuasion skills
