Accounting Principals is currently assisting a Knoxville client in finding an Accounting Clerk to join their team. As the Accounting Clerk, you will perform a variety of routine and complex clerical accounting functions including financial record-keeping and reporting; processing invoices, vouchers, purchase orders, requisitions, checks requests, and checks for accounts payable. Salary up to $33K and temp to hire opportunity.
Your responsibilities will include:
• Prepare and process financial documents for account payables to include invoices, billings, purchase orders, requisitions, check requests, and checks
• Communicate with vendors to resolve routine problems such as unpaid invoices, overpayment, request for copies of invoices and other items
• Post and track payments to ledgers and cash balancing and management
• Assist Controller in preparing and reviewing various financial reports and spreadsheets for accuracy and completeness
• Apply accurate code numbers to financial documents and batches totals
• Generate checks, invoices, reports, spreadsheets, and financial documents
• Prepare monthly invoices to units based upon divisional records, outside vendors and territorial invoices
• Research and reconcile accounts to ensure financial documents, correspondence, invoices, payments, spreadsheets, etc. are accurate
• Prepare correspondence regarding the status of accounts and responds to account inquiries
• Perform data entry of financial information to prepare spreadsheet and general ledger programs for bookkeeping and reporting purposes
• Maintains accurate and complete files of accounts and ensures appropriate back-up is included in files
• Calculate payroll hours; identify and correct discrepancies
Essential skills you should have:
• 2+ years’ experience in accounting or bookkeeping responsibilities
• Strong computer skills and ability to learn new software
• Ability to organize and maintain files of accounting records
• Strong attention to detail with a high level of proficiency
• Ability to process financial documents in compliance with established policies and procedures
