Accounting Principals is looking for an Accountant for our client in Chicago, IL. This is a hybrid role that will be working directly under the Chief Financial Officer and be responsible for financial record keeping.
Responsibilities in this role:
Process and prepare monthly journal entries for agency entities. Maintain general ledger including Fund EZ database. Manage monthly and year-end closing of the general ledger.
Coordinate payroll, benefits, allocations, and tax reconciliations in Fund EZ to reconcile with Human Resources.
Perform governmental contract functions including making voucher, reporting, communication with appropriate representatives, and monthly and annual reconciliation.
Reconcile finance general ledgers and receipts to property management rent deposit records.
Assist Chief Financial Officer with agency licensing and other governmental compliance requirements.
Integrate and strive to improve established internal controls into all aspects of work, and interpret these controls, when necessary, for other departments.
Qualifications for this role:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting/Finance required, Masters preferred
Experience in nonprofit environment required
3+ years of supervising experience
5+ years of not-for-profit accounting experience
Proficiency in Fund EZ software and MS Office
Strong communication and organizational skills
