Accounting Principals is looking for a self-motivated Accountant with five years of experience  for an office near Edison, New Jersey for a contract to hire role.  The right individual for this position will be able to successfully prioritize and manage general financial accounting and cost accounting, while maintaining a high level of accounting services and professionalism.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Extensive knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
  • Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepting accounting principles.
  • Highly proficient with accounting software
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Working knowledge of finance law and regulatory standards (GAAP)
  • Strong understanding of economic and banking processes
  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local tax compliance regulations and reporting
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related discipline required
  • Five years of accounting experience required
  • Merger and Acquisition experience
  • Public company experience
  • Responsibilities

  • Performs general cost accounting and other related duties in the accounting department
  • Prepares periodic (monthly) balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements
  • Maintains the gender ledger
  • Prepares and posts required journal entries to the general ledger
  • Codes invoices, set up new accounts, reconciles accounts, maintains appropriate support schedules, and closes the monthly books.
  • Reconciles bank accounts at daily, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks
  • Maintain all subledgers such as accounts receivable and accounts payable
  • Verifies payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to the appropriate accounts
  • Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit
  • As appropriate, coordinates with software vendor to maintain accounting software system; recommends updates to enhance the accounting software
  • Assist in integration process of acquisitions are required
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
