Hi there!

We are actively looking to add an Accountant/Auditor to join our team in our Sacramento, CA location!  We are part of a national non-profit agency who's mission is to improved the lives of the elderly in our society.  While in title the role is Accountant/Auditor, the responsibilities for this role would be about 90% accounting, 10% auditing while serving as a backup to our existing auditor.  Please also bear in mind that this position is about 90-95% REMOTE and would only require work in the office when necessary and likely a few days during the 1st week for training/equipment setup.

Our Accountant is responsible for the development and monitoring of all contracts and programs delivered or funded by the us, conducts reviews and audits in house and in the field using standard accounting methods and auditing techniques but is mainly focused on our GL, monthly reports/month-end close and working with our subcontractor and developing budgets.

PRIMARY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Accounting Duties

  • Ensure that all required fiscal documentation is completed in a timely manner in order to initiate, maintain, and closeout each contract
  • Eevelopment and monitoring of provider budgets
  • Process/Approve partner budgets, Monthly Financial Reports, and Requests for Funds
  • Monitor  expenditures and revenue in comparison to the approved budget
  • Oversee/Analyze cash needs and perform transfer of funds between bank accounts
  • Prepare various monthly journal entries as required
  • Prepare various audit work papers
  • Work with the Controller in the ongoing internal review of financial records and make recommendations for improvements
  • Assist the Controller in maintaining the accounting database through account set-ups, distribution tables, budget data, etc.
  • Auditing and other duties

  • Maintain system for monitoring of all partners
  • Helping to continue to develop procedures for conducting fiscal assessments of all partners
  • Assist with conducting annual partner reviews and prepare evaluations of subcontractors
  • Distribute monthly updates on the status of audits and fiscal assessments to the Controller and other staff
  • Reconcile partners closeout expenditures to recipient audit reports

    REQUIREMENTS:

  • At least 5 years of progressive experience in accounting and automated accounting systems (Experience in governmental/non-profit accounting is preferred)
  • Graduation from an accredited 4-year college or university with a degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or a closely-related field
  • Grant/Fund Accounting experience preferred (minimum number of years of experience can be flexed to 3-4 with this)
  • Audit experience preferred
  • Non-profit experience highly preferred
