Human resource jobs are important to the success of any company, because it is the human resource staff that handles the various responsibilities regarding personnel. The human resources department plays a role in which candidates recruit, interview, and hire. They manage the employee benefits, and otherwise ensure the company runs smoothly from the staffing standpoint.
A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree is required for this position. People who work as human resource managers will handle recruiting for open positions within a company. In recruiting they will also determine who to interview from the response of the recruitment campaign. It is often the human resources manager who will conduct the interviews with the applicants and then determine who to hire. After an applicant has been hired, he or she will also handle all the required paperwork including: background check and drug test information, payroll, and benefits.
The payroll manager will handle calculating all the employee checks for the pay period. They will handle the necessary withholding for taxes, retirement accounts, and any garnishments. They will process any direct deposit requests and essentially take care of anything related to employee pay.
This person will analyze the compensation employees receive for their work in a company – looking at more than just the hourly wage, but also considering the health insurance and other company benefits. They will determine if the compensation is worthy or in competition with other companies in the area.Depending on the size of the company, there may be more specialized human resources jobs. Larger companies usually have a larger human resource department broken down into sub areas to ensure no employee is overloaded with too many tasks. Smaller companies may hire one or two people to handle all human resources for everyone.
