Proposed Overhaul of Accounting Standards Contains Mark-to-Market Rule

The group that sets corporate accounting standards proposed an overhaul Wednesday of the way lenders record the value of their assets, hoping that more stringent and consistent reporting rules might help avert another financial crisis.

Under the new rules, banks and other lenders would be required to book their loans at their current market value, a method called mark-to-market accounting. Previously, they had more leeway in valuing assets, so long as they expected to hold them for a long period of time. Critics called that approach "mark to make believe."

  Senior Accountant  
Richard is a degreed Sr. Accountant with his MBA and CPA license. He has 9 years of corporate accounting experience and his background includes extensive experience with month, quarter and year end close and financial statement preparation. Richard possesses strong GAAP knowledge, experience performing intercompany reconciliations and analysis, and preparing schedules to assist in quarterly and year end audits. His references have described him as a quick study, highly organized, detail oriented, and able to keep up with the work flow.  Richard is seeking a challenging position with an exciting, growing company in Orange County.
   
  A/R Specialist  
Michelle is an Accounts Receivable Specialist with experience in distribution, advertising, and wholesale operations. At her last position she was the lead AR specialist and processed over 200 invoices daily.  She also focused on cash applications which included entering closing journal entries.  Michelle scored in top 10 percentile on our data entry test which equated to over 11,000 keystrokes per hour with 100% accuracy. She spent the last 9 years with the same company until her position was eliminated.
   
  Staff Accountant w/ Health Services Experience  
Christopher is looking for a temporary or full time position after spending the last 2 1/2 years at a mid-size healthcare company with revenues in excess of $200 million. Possessing his BA in Accounting from Cal State Fullerton and having the bulk of his software experience with Epicor he also has experience with Great Plains and QuickBooks. Chris has utilized Excel to automate various processes including setting up a VLookUp to import bank statements expediting the reconciliation process. He has also reconciled prepaids, accruals, and other balance sheet accounts.
